Managing & Supporting Employee Wellness and Mental Health

Facilitated discussion

In today's world, many employers are seeking ways to support employees on many fronts. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and day-to-day life challenges has caused employees to seek organizations that focus on results and their ability to provide emotional and mental health benefits. The type of support sought out by employees can be a range of things, such as managing stress to treating invisible disabilities such as anxiety and depression.

Providing the traditional EAP (Employee Assistance Program) is not enough, employees are now looking to their employers to provide more robust options. These options can extend into healthcare plans and discretionary employer-provided benefits. This type of change has resulted in the definition shift of healthcare to focus the whole health of an individual – mind, body, and spirit. In today's world, addressing wellness and mental health early can vastly improve performance outcomes and an employee's quality of life. Organizations that implement strategic initiatives related to wellness will soon reap the benefits of building a healthy culture, providing choices to support wellness/mental health, and making their employees their top priority.

In this session, we will discuss the latest trends and initiatives that can help with implementing an effective health and wellness strategy for your organization. In addition, this session will focus on how employers are using wellness to help build a strong value proposition related to employee retention, engagement, morale, attendance, and productivity. An effective wellness strategy can decrease health-related costs and allows the organization to become a corporate citizen that provides comprehensive programs designed for the prevention and treatment of mental illness.
